These programs help youth create aspirations for the future, providing opportunities for career exploration and educational enhancement. The Variety Boys and Girls Club of Queens recognizes the need in its community for a positive and enriching environment for children to reach their educational achievements. We strive everyday to fulfill that responsibility. 

Power Hour: Making Minutes Count

Power Hour: Making Minutes Count provides Club professionals with the strategies, activities, resources and information to create an engaging homework help program that encourages Club members at every age to become self-directed learners.   At Variety Boys and Girls Club of Queens, the Power Hour is divided into middle school and elementary school giving way to a more condusive learning experience for our Club Members. 

Smarties Tutoring:

Smarties Tutoring Services is a free tutoring service that provides explicit, systematic lessons in the subjects of Math and Reading.  There are differentiated instruction to accommodate all learning styles and adjustable lessons that are relevant to meet all individual students’ needs. This program will be offered on Saturday mornings, your child must fall within the programs guidelines in order to participate.

Career Launch: Preparing teens for our nation's workforce

Career Launch is a career exploration and mentoring program for teens ages 13-18.Career Launch encourages Club members ages 13 to 18 to assess their skills and interests, explore careers, make sound educational decisions and prepare to join our nation's work force.  Club Staff use the Career Exploration Quick Reference Guide to work with teens individually and in small groups to build their job-search skills and job readiness. The Career Launch website, www.careerlaunch.net, provides Club teens, staff and volunteers with online career exploration, college and job search information and interactive activities, mentoring, job shadowing and training opportunities round out the program.
